Binghamton PLAN Pilot
"The Binghamton City School District is excited to share a short video highlighting key elements of our journey as a É«ÖÐÉ«ÌýPLANÌýPilot school. This video recognizes the meaningful, student-centered work happening right here in our district.
With the unwavering support ofÌýDr. Tonia Thompson, Superintendent of Schools,ÌýDr. Jennifer Dove, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Budget, and Kevin Richman, Binghamton High School Principal, our team has been empowered to take thoughtful instructional risks, build high-quality project-based learning experiences, and align our practices with the evolving vision for É«ÖÐÉ« graduation measures.
While this video focuses on classroom-level implementation, it is important to emphasize that this work is deeply rooted in a district-wide commitment toÌýequity,Ìýinnovation, and wholistic learning.ÌýOur school leaders, central office partners, and mentor school have played a critical role in making this vision actionable, creating the conditions for educators to reimagine how students learn, demonstrate understanding, and prepare for success beyond high school.
Since the video was created in Fall 2025, several of our content-area professional learning teams have been provided with dedicated release time to deepen and accelerate their projectÌýplanning efforts. Through this focused collaboration, teams have developed high-quality project-based learning units featuring clear assessment maps and meaningful summative projects that will showcase authentic student learning.
We’re proud of what has been accomplished so far and grateful to everyone who continues to contribute to this important work as we move forward."
